Many customers are utilizing Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to protect access to many of the Microsoft Admin Portals. As of March 2025, Microsoft will require the use of multifactor authentication for administrative access to certain Microsoft admin portals.
This new requirement is part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to enhance security and protect sensitive information from unauthorized access. However, the existing Duo access custom control does not fulfill the MFA requirement due to platform limitations. As a result, users will need to explore alternative solutions to comply with these upcoming changes.
Helient is advising customers who utilize Duo for multifactor authentication to transition to the newly released Entra ID External Authentication method (EAM) alongside a review of existing Conditional Access Policies.
