Duo Mobile End of Support for iOS 15 on February 17, 2025

Written by Jeyakumar Durai | Oct 29, 2024 3:37:41 PM

To align with Apple iOS end-of-service and end-of-life phases, DUO is limiting the support to newer iOS versions so they can build and deliver the latest security features. DUO recommends that users upgrade to the latest iOS version (iOS 16 and later) to receive security updates, improvements, and support by February 17, 2025.

What will be the impact if the users don’t update their phones to the latest iOS version?

  • Duo teams will no longer be able to troubleshoot issues with Duo Mobile running on iOS 15 or older.
  • Mobile devices using iOS 15 will no longer receive Duo Mobile maintenance fixes or security updates.
  • Users cannot download the latest version of Duo Mobile on mobile devices running on iOS 15.
  • Duo Push will continue to work on already-installed versions of Duo Mobile on iOS 15, and users will continue to be able to authenticate.
  • Duo Mobile–generated passcodes will also continue to work on already-installed versions of the app, and users will continue to be able to authenticate.
  • SMS-delivered passcodes and phone callback authentication are not affected by this change. These methods do not rely on Duo Mobile.
  • Duo Mobile will continue to be fully supported on iOS 16 or newer.

What actions should Administrators take to move the iOS users to the Compliant OS version per DUO?
DUO recommends customers to review the authentication device version reports in the DUO Admin panel and work with end users to update them to supported versions.

Helient strongly recommends that DUO customers work with their end users to update the corresponding iOS version to iOS 16 or later by February 17, 2025, to have a stable DUO experience across the organization.
